POSITIVE CHANGE IS OUR POLICY.
At Columbia, we're proud to adopt responsible practices and to support initiatives committed to doing the right thing when it comes to protecting the environment.
Columbia assesses environmental impacts from manufacturing. Our impacts in terms of waste, energy, water and chemical is tracked, measured and constantly improved. We are also a bluesign® System Partner to reduce the environmental impact of our supply chain.
STRONG PARTNERSHIPS
We are proud to partner with the UK National Parks, Planet Water, The Ocean Foundation, the UTMB® and The Conservation Alliance just to name a few.
INNOVATING PRODUCTS
Finding new ways to reduce our impact on the environment is critical. That's why we create new ways through breakthrough product design and sustainable manufacturing.
All of our down-insulated products meet the Responsible Down Standard, a certification that recognizes best practices in animal welfare and verifies responsible sourcing across our supply chain—from farm and raw material to processing and finished product.
OUTDRY TECHNOLOGY 100% PFC‑FREE
When conventional rainwear uses a PFC-based treatment to repel water and dirt, our waterproof-breathable technology contains no PFCs (no intentional use). PFCs are bio-accumulative in wildlife and humans and persist in the environment.
RECYCLED MATERIALS
A increasing proportion of our products contain recycled materials like synthetic insulation and fibers.
100% of our labels (interior and exterior), loops and care and content labels are 100% recycled polyester.
Our packaging mostly uses recycled materials: up to 98% of recycled materials in our shipping boxes and shoe boxes.
OUR ATHLETES WALK THE TALK
They have built a close relationship with nature through their outdoor practices: here are some inspirational messages from our athletes.
LUKAS IRMLER
"Respect wildlife protection areas: it is crucial to understand where those areas are and to follow the rules. This way we show nature and its inhabitants the respect they deserve and we secure our beautiful environment for the future as well as secure our (temporary) access."
"There are so many things we can do to protect the environment: from reducing waste and eating locally-produced and organic food, to picking up trash. Use your legs more and your car less, and use your hands to clean nature and repair what's broken."
"I'm an ambassador for Protect our Winters (POW) Switzerland, a non-profit organisation which aims to spread important messages about climate change to the outdoor community and the public. I use my social media platforms to help spread ideas on how we can help solve climate issues."
